|ABOUT THEM| Name: Millicent Violetta Bulstrode House: Slytherin Age/Year: 18/Alumni Bloodline: Halfblood(unknown, mother was a squib and is known to be pure.) Affiliation: Voldemort-supporter, but her support has waned quit a bit. Familiar: Cat named Wobbles PB: Emily Perkins
Physical Description: Milicent has a heavy face and a jaw, keeping high ears and medium height cheek bones. She had vibrant green eyes and slightly thin lips in a mixture with her jaw makes her very plain looking and hardly elegant at all like most purebloods. The only thing that is particularly nice about her face is the fact that she is incredibly pale has never broken out like most teenagers do. Millie tends to look strange because she used to be so overweight and didn't diet the way people should. She stands at five foot three with a thin, unshapely build and slightly wide hips making her look boyish now that she doesn't have breasts proportional for her body. She doesn't have the muscle mass she used to have anymore and doesn't seem to care to, but the scowl she wore in school is always present on her face. Millie doesn't look like a pleasant person to be around just by looking at her. Millie would tend to remind you of the girl at work that always tried NOT talk and only pretended to be nice when it appeared to be in her benefit, while appearing most submissive.
She walk with her arms straight and doesn't sway them alot like normal people do, frequently crossing them when she feels like she needs to be protected. She wears a lot of layers of clothing and seems to be much wider than she really is. Usually having horrible fashion; Long skirts, long coats, heavy sweaters and usually flat thick shoes that makes her feet look big. It's clear that she doesn't care about herself very much or what she looks like to anyone. Millie always had to wear clothes that made her look stupid and due to that, she buys clothes that never match but are always dark cold colours as she'd never dress in white.
She has one defining mark on her body, along the top side of her right forearm is a long scar that goes nearly down to her wrist. It's a burn from her brother that was a punishment when she was in school, keeping it to herself and never wearing clothes that made it obvious. Millie's hair is flat, lank and black with no style and looks trifling like it needs to be pulled back. Of course, she wears it loose which causes her to look like she wants to hide her face in her hair.
Personality: Millie is a bunch of insecurities, complexities of a fake self that she tries to hide for the duration of time. She's been forced to follow the path that her brother paved for her all her life and she acted only out of fear of what might happen should she go against the grind too much. In school, she was known as a bully in her classes and house until Ewald left in her third year and while this doesn't seem like a big deal the majority of people had probably already made an opinion about her. She would never do things on her own unless Ewald was there, he brings out her bad behaviour and if his friends are there, she tends to also act up to throw them off so they don't tell him. Sadly, this causes alot of white lies on her part.
She's for the most part if independent, she learned to self-soothe and doesn't know how to show affection that could be considered 'love'. Millie has a large shield of sorts over her, protecting her from letting anyone get too close. I know it seems like she might be unsocial, but she really isn't. She goes with the motions of pretending to be social, pretending to be a fun person to be around but not really giving a damn because none of it really has affected her. She doesn't believe in people be interested in her, that might shock her to the core if someone actually did.
She always hides how she is really feeling; Millie is a little hardened to the world around her and feels that she doesn't need to tell everyone how she feels. Her words are spoke in a half-believable tone that sounds like boredom and she doesn't really want to answer. She worries constantly that someone will figure her out and expose her for what she really is; a coward. Millie is all bark and no bite, she hesitates even to hurt someone's feeling unless it's absolutely necessary but will do so to 'save face'. She has some anxiety from worrying so much; it causes her to leap to conclusions based on what she thinks in her mind instead of just asking. Strangely enough, she doesn't like to lie for people and will not do it for anyone else besides Ewald. She prefers to stay honest when it's really important or when it concerns others well being. When it's herself, she likes to pretend she's fine or that nothing is wrong.
She also has the uncanny ability to be honest to those that she really likes and I don't mean just a personal friend, she really has to like a person to be completely honest with them, otherwise she'll just lie so they don't worry about her. She believes that she's below average and nothing to look at, she knows that Ewald's friends only find her attractive because she's pure-blooded and hasn't bothered to even get deep with any of them. Being fawned at, stared at or investigated makes her really uneasy and she prefers no company to the company of people who seem to just want to get closer to Ewald. She's far too clever, much more clever than her brother, and sees past it.
Her whole life was spent in secret trying to best him, reading his books over summer to make better grades in the courses he took before hand. She hoped to get twice as many Os in NEWTS than he did. One can tell that she sacrificed her social life to do this, being reclusive and relying on Ewald's ties to any friends he had for a social life and thus she doesn't have many people who are her friends, real friends. Millie's friendliness is very peculiar and works off of how smart you are, how trustworthy you are and how much you mean to her or how excitable you make her. Once one of those are taken away, she's less likely to ever open back up.
As independent as she sounds, Millie is easily manipulated into doing things that she wouldn't usually do by methods of confrontation and being too overly pushy. People being overly dominant can easily sway her, it breaks her down in a way that makes her pathetic and she tries to avoid those types as much as possible. While this doesn't mean EVERY choice, someone getting in her face or trapping her can coax her into going with something. One thing she hates more than anything is to be trapped, she'll go with almost anything to get out. Millie doesn't like to be messed with at all, her explosive temper (mentioned in her history) can lead her to going too far in saying things she shouldn't or just being mean.
The one thing that is her biggest set back is how she feels when she's ignored. Her father has never spoken to her, no matter how good she does or what she does. She cannot stand people who turn their backs to her, walk away from her or ignore her completely. This enrages her and Millie becomes a complete mess which ends in her having a fit over it, these fits are often to those she believes are truly close friends of hers or relatives if she can get away with it. She has been known to act up when she's alone with a person, but never in public because she doesn't want to embarrass herself. It fuels her temper so badly that she has been known to cry in her fits of anger because she can't help it, even though she tries to hide it.
Lastly, Millie has been known to be a little annoying when it comes to being girly, she doesn't understand it and doesn't care to try. Being brought up by her brother and hanging about with her brother's friends, she tends to be seen as 'one of the guys' rather than a girl. She often wrestles with boys, fights with them and has a tendency to say things only guys would say to another guy. She also has very boyish body language. Millie has been known to sit kind of sprawled when in pants, get attached to girls that seem to understand her a little and swagger. The swagger she has is probably, if anything, more hilarious than anything she does.
Personal History: There was a time before Millicent was even thought of, but the line began with a man named Stilzchen Grimm, who at one point married into the Burke family. Morana Burke married Grimm and for years the line stayed a cousin line to the Burkes as the Weasleys were to the Blacks. It's noted that only truly dark wizards and witches have gained the ability of being a parselmouth. The Grimm line was everything you pictures a dark wizarding family to be, they were reckless, violent and had high-likeliness to interbreed to keep their lines strong and pure. I honestly believe that the Grimm family bred darkness and eventually their children could speak parselmouth.
Anyways, after a while, the Grimm line ended with Marien Grimm; a squib, who was fierce and violent by the time she married Leonard Bulstrode. Leonard found her to be beautiful and he had never known that she was a squib due to the family tradition in the Grimm family; they damaged the wrists of the squib, making it difficult to hold a wand and swish it around. Her excuse was validated. However, the lack of Marien's own magic caused the parselmouth ability to lay dormant for an unknown amount of time but it appeared to be forever. This story of starting a pure line with a squib was kept a secret and is NOT known to anyone who isn't a Bulstrode.
The Bulstrode line was now all that was life of the Grimm line, it was never known for it's prestigious ways but more or less for the darkness it bred. The line even crossed with the Blacks by Violetta marrying into the family. Violetta even bred out another squib, Marius Black, who was disowned and had she known that her inbred family made squibs, she probably wouldn't have disgraced the Blacks with a squib and thus had a few more kids to replace Marius. Now, the line is most definitely dwindled down to Millicent's time when her father married into the Selwyn line, which happened to be affiliated with the Death Eaters. Aldebert and his new wife, Fauna Selwyn; unknowingly a squib, who was about 8 years younger than him and his own second cousin finally managed to have children after several years of trying.
The first to appear was a son, Ewald, then a daughter, Millicent. The family seemed to run into bad luck shortly after Fauna died, leaving Millicent to do all the work around the house, both man and woman's job. Ewald and Aldebert were just layabouts and didn't want to help unless they got something out of it, this left Millicent with a bunch of feelings that had no names since she really didn't have any friends to experience anything with. Millicent became socially inept and lost pieces and parts of her emotional vocabulary due to being oppressed by her family that hardly cared for her and frequently sought to hurt her and her feelings when she messed up. The death of Fauna took a heavy toll on the family, but it was heaviest with the two males as they were old enough to stay attached to her, whereas Millicent didn't remember what her mother was like after a few years as she had only been five when it happened. This was Millicent's eating binge to comfort herself and eventually lead to her being overweight, the neglect of her father and brother allowed her to just eat whenever she wanted.
Millicent's childhood was nothing to talk about and generally disappointed her whenever she thought about doing something she found fun. Aldebert was so excited when Ewald was able to go to school and her home life became a little easier, Ewald wasn't home to yell at her and push her around whenever her wanted something and Aldebert was busy being out most of the day, which left her at home. During this time she was unsupervised and frequently sought to sit outside and sit in the grass until she started hearing voices and knew that hearing voices, even in the Wizarding World was a bad sign and she refused to acknowledge it. Millicent heard voices whenever she went outside and became very paranoid that she was insane, refusing to seek out the voice in case someone caught her. These little voices stopped when she was finally on her way to Hogwarts for the first time, she didn't hear them anymore and figured that maybe it was her home doing this to her. Now that she was under strict surveillance of her older brother, he often pushed her around when nobody was watching and forced her to act in the way he did so that she would look strong.
Millicent didn't do anything to anyone until her brother started watching her every movement in public, mostly in the common rooms and out of classes. The reputation she gain was that she was a bully, a loner and didn't like anyone and was her brother's "sidekick". It was Ewald's reputation that tainted hers, being pressured into doing things for show and that's what got her into Pansy's gaggle of girls. Millicent was told by her brother that she should get more involved with the girls in her year and did things like snap at those who talked to Pansy in a nasty way, she did these things knowing that she'd get in trouble. The whole time she did these things, she got panic attacks and adrenaline rushes from her heart beating so fast. By the end of the year, she was Pansy's known acquaintance and she had a reputation for being an awful person. Millicent was a troubled girl with a lot of inner problems and now people hated her before she got to really get to know them, she often cried that summer. She spent most of it working anyway, she just hated her life as it seemed to be full of nothing good. She heard voices, was yelled at, called awful names and sometimes was punish by fist rather than by words.
It wasn't until Millicent's second year did she figure out what was going on, she heard the voices in the corridors and in the common room. It drove her mad.
That's went that git, Gilderoy Lockhart, started his duelling club did he figure out that the attacks, messages and everything was from Slytherin's Heir. That's when Harry Potter made it obvious and made himself suspicious by speaking parseltongue for all to hear after duelling Draco. She knew what the voices were now and there was no way she was going to tell anyone she was a parselmouth, she was going to let Harry take the fall for it. If he was going to prance around in public and speak like that, then he needed to get in trouble and she didn't. She also started listening to her friends and fought it out with Hermione on the duellist table, placing her in a headlock which got her in a fair amount of trouble with her father for being caught. Millicent didn't breath a word of her ability to anybody, not even her family.
Aldebert, angry with his daughter's trouble-making, decided that he was going to put her on a diet and while this isn't cruel at all to do, Aldebert made it cruel. His idea of a diet was not to let her eat at all and if she did, it was only something small enough to keep her from getting sick. This diet lasted until her sixth year as she had been cheating during the school year because she was starving herself pretty much. It was easy to tell that she wasn't herself, she busted her ass hard in school to get great marks and they were slipping when she was starving herself like that. Each year got harder and harder.
Millicent's fourth year was the one where she spent mostly secluded and away from those who had called her their friend. She spent most of her time trying to find a snake to speak to but stopped acting like she was when people found her. When everyone had attention the ball, she was left in an ugly dress she scrounged up with no date. It wasn't until that moment that she decided that she wanted to get like the other girls and be pretty, even if she wasn't the most attractive since most people were afraid or hated her anyway. Millicent's fifth year landed her a spot on the Inquisitorial Squad with some of the other students, the reason she joined was because Dolores, although strange, sometimes reminded her of her own mother and it was extra credit. Millicent's shining moment was when she grabbed Hermoine and kept her pinned on the wall while Dolores tried to get answers out of Harry, a part of her knew it was wrong but she was already on the wrong path anyways. One could consider her similar to Peter Pettigrew, she was never a bad person but felt neglected and wanted retribution for trying so hard. She had been doing things for everyone else but herself and she found herself miserable because of it.
Millicent decided what she wanted, she wanted to lose the rest of her weight and start doing thing son her own now that her brother wasn't at school the next year. Although her home life was still horrific, she did as her father requested and stopped trying so hard to be a person she wasn't. Millicent stopped trying to impress Tracey, Pansy, Daphne and any one else, she stay secluded and kept to herself in the sixth year. In this year, she found herself able to get high marks without trying because she had more time to study and do things her own way. Most of her friends probably noticed her reclusive and usually avoiding tactics while around public, a lot of the people she picked on tried to pick on her now for losing the rest of her weight and looking like she'd starved herself, which she'd done. They didn't call her fat any more, but they made fun of her bony appearance, pale unhealthy skin and lack of clothes to make her look right. Millie was a mess of upset emotions and often found comfort in the Forbidden Forest trying to speak to a snake sometimes but growing discouraged and leaving after a while. By the time seventh year rolled around, she was favoured by Amycus Carrow due to her behaviour and not giving anyone trouble. They were relaxed on giving her any work and allowed her to pass the courses with ease, finding that her easiest subjects were DADA, Charms and Transfiguration while being just so-so at the rest.
I'd like to point out that Millie was one of the Slytherins that came back, but she didn't involve herself and only watched as others fought. Millicent didn't want to make things any worse and was trying to help the injured if she could. It was hard for her to watch all the death happen around her, she'd even witnessed Fred Weasley die and she'd wished she was nicer to them instead of being so awful. For the most part, any battles inside Hogwarts never found Millicent among those fighting on either side, she usually hid herself from it, not wishing to die.
Now, as an adult, Millicent is an intern in the Department of Mysteries. Millicent doesn't talk about her job and it's perfect for her as she doesn't want to be anything else.
After the event happened, she had a few years under her belt as an Unspeakable and dabbled in a lot of magic that was more or less a secret. She tries day in and out in an attempt to find a way to leave Diagon Alley.
